Close-Rate vs Gong: which fits a small sales team
Gong is built for revenue teams with an ops function. Close-Rate writes each rep their own coaching report from their own calls. An honest read on which one fits a team under 25 reps.
If you are comparing us to Gong you are probably a sales leader with somewhere between three and twenty-five reps, and you have worked out that you are paying for call recording you do not have time to listen to. This page is the honest version of that comparison, including the part where you should buy Gong instead.
The short answer
Choose Gong if
- You have a revenue operations function, or someone whose actual job is running the tooling.
- You need forecasting and pipeline inspection alongside conversation data.
- You have enough reps that aggregate trends are meaningful on their own.
- Your buying committee already knows the category and the name reduces their risk.
Choose Close-Rate if
- Nobody on your team has time to review calls, and coaching has quietly become whatever gets mentioned in the pipeline meeting.
- You want each rep to receive something written about their own calls, not a dashboard someone has to interpret for them.
- You are small enough that the question is "what should this rep change on Monday", not "what is the trend across sixty reps".
- You want to be able to check any claim in a coaching report against the recording it came from.
What we actually do differently
The category mostly sells managers a dashboard. The implicit promise is that if you can see the data, coaching follows. In a small team it usually does not, because the constraint was never visibility. It was that the person who would do the coaching already has a number to hit.
Close-Rate writes the coaching instead of displaying the inputs. Every rep gets their own report every week: where the call went wrong, what a stronger call sounded like, and one thing to try next time. A manager who reads none of it still has a team that got coached.
Every quote is checked against the recording
This is the part we would want to verify if we were you. When a report quotes something a rep said, that quote is matched back against the actual transcript before the report is allowed to include it. If we cannot find it, the claim does not get made. A finding that fails verification is downgraded rather than printed.
The reason to care is not craftsmanship. It is that a rep who catches one invented quote will never trust the tool again, and they are right to feel that way. Coaching only works if the person being coached believes the evidence.
The pipeline that does this is written up in full, including what happens when a claim fails it.
For how the rest of the category prices this, including the three vendors that publish no figure at all, see the wider comparison.
What we are not
We are not a forecasting tool and we do not want to be your CRM. We do not replace your call library. We integrate with Zoom and RingCentral and read what is already being recorded.
We are also early. We onboard a small number of teams per industry, deliberately, because the coaching gets better when we understand the motion being sold. If you need a vendor with a decade of procurement paperwork behind them, that is a real reason to pick someone else and we would rather you knew now.
The number
Across our pilots, close rate has moved an average of twenty points. That is an average across a range, not a promise to any individual team, and anyone quoting you a guaranteed revenue outcome from a coaching tool is selling you something.
What we will commit to is the mechanism: every call read, every rep gets a written report every week, every quote checked. Whether that moves your number depends on whether your team acts on it.
Pricing
We publish ours. Standard monthly pricing is $145 per user and $175 per coach. The first workspace is included; ordinary additional workspaces are $50 per month, in addition to seat charges. Coach-sponsored companies created through Add client have no additional workspace fee. Each licensed seat includes 10,000 AI credits per month, pooled across the account. Applicable taxes are shown at checkout. Coaches can ask about our partner revenue-sharing program. Most vendors in this category do not publish pricing at all, which you can confirm yourself in about a minute, and that asymmetry is worth noticing when you are the smaller buyer in the room.
See it on your own calls
Start a trial and import a handful of real calls. You will have a coaching report for one of your reps in about fifteen minutes, and you can check every quote in it against the recording.
